The North Avenue surgery, in North Avenue, Southend, is run by Dr Natverlal Shah and still lists Manish Shah as a staff member on the NHS website,
where it says he works on Wednesday afternoons.
The listing reads: “He is able to perform some minor surgery and his main interest is with family planning. He is able to fit and remove coils. He is able to speak English, Hindi and Gujarati.”
“Dr Manish Shah had conditions placed on his practice in 2013 preventing him from seeing female patients alone, and was suspended from the register in 2014.
“This means he has been unable to practice since then.
“In matters where a doctor is subject to a criminal investigation, our own investigation process cannot continue until criminal proceedings have ended.
“The status of any doctor can be viewed at any time on our online register by entering the name or GMC number of any doctor.”
A spokesman for Southend CCG said: “We are aware that Dr Manish Shah is facing criminal charges relating to a practice in east London and we understand that none of the charges relate to care given in Southend,
however we are now confirming the circumstances of his employment with the North Avenue Surgery in Southend.”
The most recent CQC inspection of the surgery in 2015 found it was “good” and there were no concerns about patient safety. The CQC did not reply to a request for comment.
